Survey of Fashion

This course is designed to help students understand how various factors in society and the real world influence the fashion cycle and structure. This course will help students understand how decisions are made in the industry including ethical, financial, and management factors.

Apparel Product Management

Designed to introduce global concepts to students in which help them understand the sourcing of textiles and products in the fashion industry, along with sustainability initiatives.

Fashion Styling

Designed to introduce students to styling a person with succession on given category or demographics. Students will be able to Use the color wheel to effectively choose colors that compliment skin tone and accentuate the figure in desired areas.

Product Development

This course is designed to help students understand how a product is crated from an idea to finished form. This course will introduce various terminology and steps need to finalize a successful product. Course will give opportunity for students to go through the product development process of product.

Fashion Merchandising

This course is designed to focus on the economics, distribution, promotion, and the retail of fashion. This includes learning about the basics of Fashion Merchandising, fashion forecasting, and strategies of promoting and selling fashion to the consumer.

Fashion Illustration

Color Analysis

Designed to introduce concepts and applications of color analysis in the fashion industry. This will help students understand the importance of color in designing and when styling.

Fashion Scholarship Program

The fashion industry, like any other, offers several types of jobs that need many diverse
skills. The world of fashion is not only a creative field that allows you to express your
unique style and vision through designing clothes, shoes, and accessories but it is also a
rewarding career to help people gain confidence, promote a cause, or make a positive
impact on the world.

Overview of Program

The Jade Marlin Foundation Fashion Scholarship Program supports young men and women who are interested in pursuing a career in the fashion industry. The purpose of the scholarship program is to:

1. Increase the number of future fashion career professionals in the pipeline and
boost diversity in the fashion industry; and

2. Establish relationships with students by offering financial support to students to
help them offset the costs of their fashion education.

Award Amount

For 2024, there will be 4 awards of $250. The awards will be given during the early fall and late winter. The specific time for submitted applications will be posted on the foundation website, at least two months in advance of the due date for submissions.

Eligibility Requirements

The scholarship program is open to legal residents of LA County, CA who are at least 17 years of age at the time of entry, and who meet all of the following eligibility requirements at the time of their application.

Scholarship application requirements:
1) Proof of U.S. citizenship.
2) Proof of residency in LA County, CA
3) Proof of full-time enrollment in an accredited, higher education institution, such
as a community college; 4-year college or university; private institution.
4) Essay: In 100 words or less, explain why receiving the scholarship will benefit
you in your career plans? What is the importance of support in pursuing your
career goals?

Award Process

A Foundation Review committee will evaluate completed applications and make theirdecision for awards. Due to the amount of funds available, the committee will only consider fully completed applications that meet all of the stated requirements on a first-come, first-
served basis to ensure fairness based on arrival time.
